the situation
Hawaii Junk Removal came to us as a plan and nothing else. No name, no site, no search footprint — and a market already owned by 1-800-GOT-JUNK and its national ad budget. The brief was as big as it gets: build a Hawaii company’s entire presence from a blank page, and make it beat the mainland chain on its own islands.
02 Discovery
what we found
Here’s the thing about junk removal: it’s won in the three inches of Google’s local pack, on searches like “junk removal pearl city.” A national franchise has the budget — but it doesn’t have Pearl City, Kapolei, or Kailua the way a local does. Beat them there and the phone rings; lose and you’re invisible. So the SEO couldn’t be sprinkled on at the end. The site was built around Oahu’s towns from the first line of code.
03 Design
the design approach
We drew the logo, built the brand, and designed every page for one job: turn a Hawaii search into a phone call. No clutter, no scroll-hunting — a customer in Kapolei lands, sees “Kapolei,” and taps to book.
04 Build
how it was built
The whole thing was engineered to rank from day one — built on WordPress with the SEO in the foundation, not the finish:
- Brand & logo — designed the company’s logo and visual identity as the starting point.
- Service-area architecture — built dedicated, optimized pages for each Oahu service area (Pearl City, Kapolei, and more), each targeting the local “junk removal + town” searches that drive calls. This structure is the SEO foundation, designed in from the start rather than added later.
- Conversion-focused build — mobile-first, fast, and built to convert local search traffic into calls and bookings.
- Ongoing SEO — a sustained SEO program from launch forward.
05 Launch / Ongoing
the relationship
Launched July 5, 2023. Page one in six months — from a domain that didn’t exist the week before. Three years on, they’re #1 in Hawaii for “hawaii junk removal,” outranking a national franchise across most of the market. We didn’t optimize someone’s existing site. We built the local company that beat the mainland chain — which is the whole reason a Hawaii business should hire a Hawaii team.
06 Outcome
the result
Out-ranks 1-800-GOT-JUNK (national franchise) on the majority of head-to-head keywords where both appear (58 of 113). #1 positions span both organic results and the Google local pack — the placements that generate calls.
